Grand Rapids City Council Establishing Shot

When you use a video camera, be it for the home movies, film or television, you are telling a story. Just as grammar and punctuation forms sentences and paragraphs in language, certain techniques are also needed to communicate well in the visual arts. This brings us to the beginning shot in a scene or location. An establishing shot in filmmaking and television production sets up, or establishes the context for a scene by showing the relationship between its important figures and objects. It is generally a wide shot at the beginning of a shot indicating where, and sometimes when, the...

Kristi Kane the Executive Director for ElderCircle interviewed Stacey Kingsley from Itasca County Health and Human Services and Sue Estee from Second Harvest North Central Food Bank for this month’s episode of ElderCircle Forum.   They talked about food support for seniors in Itasca County.  Many people have complained that it’s not worth the paper work but Stacey brought in a sample of what $16 can buy at a local grocery store.   You can look for this ElderCircle program to be cablecast in the coming weeks on your local public access channel....

It went to commercial?!

Each week, ICTV goes back into the archive of past productions and pulls one off the shelf. From the ICTV Archives programs play each Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm on the Public Access Channel. On November 26 at 4:00pm, you can catch the 2003 Reif Dance Center performance of The Nutcracker. The following week, on December 3, we will be replaying the dark house spearing episode of Just Outdoors from December 2007. Be sure to keep an eye on ICTV’s schedule to see what we are going to pull out of the archive next. If you have suggestions for programs you would like to...

In this month’s “Just Outdoors” program host Tom Chapin talked with Stuart Anderson about Firearms Safety.   Stuart is a firearms safety instructor and has been for almost 50 years.   In fact he was Tom’s instructor when Tom was 12 years old growing up in Hibbing.  Stuart began teaching in the infant stages of firearms safety.    He brought along with him a graph showing how hunting is one of the safest sports there is.  He said that people think of guns as being hazardous but it’s how...
