Kick Off to the Olympics!

Winter Olympic Sports PresentersWinter Olympic Sports PresentersOn Thursday, February 11, the Grand Rapids Area Library program was all about Winter Olympic sports. The program featured six guest speakers in all, each sharing their personal experience and knowledge of the sport they are involved with. Up first was Jeff Fortune. He talked about Olympic snowboarding and how he got involved. His presentation was followed by Harry Hutchins. Harry shared a PowerPoint presentation on both ski jumping and Nordic combined skiing. The next sport to be highlighted was curling, and it was presented by Darryl Solem. Biathlon was the final sport of the evening. The presentation was started by Jon Byrne, and he was later joined by Addie Byrne and Kevin Patzoldt. All of the speakers did an excellent job of explaining their sports and the special connections those sports have with Northern Minnesota. ICTV volunteer Donna Waech was in attendance at this program and recorded it to be shared on ICTV. Please check ICTV's online schedule for air dates and times. Also, Kick Off to the Olympics can be seen by ICTV members in our Premium ICTV Videos section. Please call ICTV for a login if you don't have one.
