Intern Insight - Volume 5
Submitted by Joe Gigliotti on July 6, 2012 - 10:51amHey! Intern Joe writing, and I’m back for another edition of Intern Insight. I hope you and yours had an enjoyable 4th of July!
After filming the La Prairie City Council meeting on Monday and co-filming the Summer Concert Series with Cole on Tuesday afternoon, I headed over to Nashwauk on Tuesday night to shoot their annual fireworks display. To clarify, I did not actually shoot off the fireworks; shooting meaning filming, ha-ha. Besides being bullied by mosquitos, I had a great time! I had never been to Nashwauk’s fireworks before. They put on quite a display. It was a great turnout for the event. I’m glad I got there super early; got a good parking spot near where I wanted to setup. I found a nice spot at the top of the hill and waited for the sky to light up! You can catch the fireworks program in its entirety this weekend on your local public access channel!
This weekend, it will be another first for me. I will be traveling to the Wild Rice Festival in Deer River. We will be covering the parade on Sunday.
Lastly, best wishes to those whose homes were damaged by the storm on Monday night. I hope the rebuilding effort goes as well as possible. Also, thank you to all of the city workers for the tireless hours they put in, and are still putting in, to restore both power and the city itself. Stay strong, Itasca County.
