DVDs go round again for historical purposes

There was a time the 8-track was passed by for the cassette tape, the cassette tape for the CD, the CD for the digital file.  The same is true in TV.  The VHS tapes are gone, the DVDs are easing out, the Blue Rays are dying (even as they become affordable)and the digital file is king.  But ICTV found this is not always true with historical displays.  So, while ICTV need not have 10 DVD players to play back programming, the players have a use.  We have recycled our DVD players from the control room to locations that teach us about history.  ICTV found the players ready for disposal matched perfectly to the Forest History Center's exhibit players.  Also, the Itasca Historical Society and MN Discover Center both have new exhibits being developed needing DVD playback.  So the dust is off the players and they continue to do important work in our communities.
